The Beverly Hills Board of Education is “gratified” that former Principal Frank Scott has been cleared by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office of suspicion of misconduct in the operation of student magazine sale funds at El Rodeo School, according to a statement released by the board.

The board had asked the district attorney’s office to investigate after its own inquiry into the possible misuse of school funds at El Rodeo failed to clear Scott, who is retired.

“The board knows that this has been a very painful experience for Mr. Scott and his family, as well as for many young people who have grown to know and love him during his years at El Rodeo,” the statement read. “As a teacher, assistant principal and finally as principal, Frank Scott has been a devoted friend to thousands of the children of this community.”

Scott’s case sparked an outpouring of community support. Parents and teachers at the school raised more than $7,500 for his legal fees.
