Robert D. Hussey, a veteran film publicist who most recently had headed the television production arm of Bob Hope Enterprises, died Wednesday at his Hollywood home. He was 80.

Hussey moved to Hollywood from New Jersey in the 1930s and spent several years at Warner Brothers and Columbia studios. He met Hope in 1936 when he headed Paramount’s radio department.

He left films to join Young & Rubicam, where he spent 26 years, retiring as vice president in charge of that advertising and public relations agency’s Hollywood office.
