Gifts and pledges totaling $48,350 have been received by the Friends of Copper Mountain College annual fund drive and an additional $14,854 toward previous pledges was received during the drive, according to Richard G. Frohnen, the group's executive director of development.

Phase 1 of the new campus in Joshua Tree opened last April, and ground breaking for Phase 2 is scheduled for late in 1986. Copper Mountain College is part of College of the Desert and is a member of the Coachella Valley Community College District.
