University of Hawaii athletic director Stan Sheriff and San Diego State assistant athletic director Bill Finley said Wednesday they are considering moving Hawaii’s home football game against the Aztecs on Nov. 30 from Aloha Stadium to Melbourne, Australia.

A major commercial business in Melbourne, whose name has not been disclosed, would put up the money for the first American football game to ever be played in Australia. Finley said the Aztecs would be happy to play in Melbourne, at the site of the track and field competition of the 1956 Olympics, as long as they receive the $50,000 that is regularly paid to Western Athletic Conference visiting teams. It is the Aztecs’ final game of the 1985 season.
