Share

A soloist lineup of familiar musical names--including Kiri Te Kanawa, Itzhak Perlman, James Galway, Shirley Verrett and Grace Bumbry--and two debutant conductors--Claus Peter Flor and Michelangelo Veltri--will appear at Hollywood Bowl in the 10-week summer season, July 9-Sept. 14.

The schedule of outdoor concerts at the amphitheater, summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, offers subscription orchestral concerts on four nights of the week, plus special events.

The season opens July 9, when Leonard Slatkin, music director of the St. Louis Symphony, conducts the Philharmonic in Berlioz’s “Roman Carnival” Overture and Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony, and pianist Andre Watts appears in Saint-Saens’ Second Concerto. It ends Sept. 14, with a “Fireworks Pops Finale” to be conducted by Sir Charles Groves and featuring pianist Earl Wild, who will play Liszt’s E-flat Concerto.
