Local News in Brief : Valencia Girl, 12, Dies of Injuries From Crash
A 12-year-old Valencia girl died of head and neck injuries she suffered in a two-car collision last week in Newhall, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said Sunday.
The victim, Kimberly Grossi, died Friday at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, less than 24 hours after the accident in the 23000 block of San Fernando Road, officer Ruben Avila said.
Avila said the girl was a passenger in an auto driven by her mother, Kathryn Reynolds, when the accident occurred. Reynolds’ car was hit on the passenger side by another vehicle after she swerved into an eastbound lane to avoid traffic that had suddenly slowed in front of her, Avila said.
Reynolds remained hospitalized Sunday with moderate injuries. The driver of the other car, Charles H. Sproull of Newhall, was treated for minor injuries and released.
Neither driver was cited.
