Chicago-based Bally Manufacturing Co., reeling from a downturn in coin-operated amusement games, reported that it lost $114.6 million in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, compared to a $12.2-million loss in the year-earlier period. For the year, Bally lost $100.4 million on sales of $1.35 billion. In 1983, the company earned $5.2 million. Robert E. Mullane, Bally president and chairman, said results were affected by a $169-million charge related to the company’s decision to reduce its activities in the coin-operated amusement business.
