Arizona State had tied the game on Don Wakamatsu’s two-run homer with two out in the bottom of the ninth.
Northridge took a 3-1 lead in the eighth on Mark Ban’s RBI single and Paul Kaplan’s two-run homer.
Glenn Braybrooks (1-0) got the win for the Matadors, now 6-1 after sweeping the two-game series against Arizona State, which fell to 5-6 with its third straight loss.
