A Footman for the Ardor of the Garter

Share

Henry Waechter of Escondido claims that the socks that he’s been purchasing don’t hold up any more. Consequently, he’s been in the market for some old-fashioned men’s garters, single- or double-grip, but without success. No one in men’s stores or department stores has any. Can you help with this gripping story, or will he wonder what’s holding him up while everybody socks it to him?

H. Ballard of Arleta is looking for someone who can replace a leather seat on a dining room chair. He’s tried several places in his area, but no luck. Can you help, or will Ballard have to work up a lather over his leather replacement before somebody finally gets him seated?

S. Morasse of Downey has an aunt coming to visit who wears a 10B shoe on one foot and 10EEE on the other. The aunt prefers to wear cloth sandals, and Morasse would like to purchase some. Can you help, or will the aunt never be able to distinguish between right and thong?

Jean Cole of Paso Robles, who was looking for scalloped wood frames to fit 7 1/2-inch Hummel Plates, may soon be in a good frame of mind. Marjorie Rosenberg of Carol’s Gift Shop in Artesia (just south of Los Angeles but more than 200 miles from Paso Robles) writes that they carry the item at $17.50; the address is 17601 S. Pioneer Blvd., Artesia 90701, (213) 924-6335.

For G. Petrie of Redondo Beach, who was looking for pure talc, we have good news: Talc is cheap after all. Allan Zahner of Santa Monica buys technical-grade talk (not USP) from Walmead Industries, Inc., P.O. Box 1872, Texarkana, Ark. 75504 for about $8 per five-pound box (plus shipping charges). Jeanne Garrison has the pharmacist at her Sav-On drug store order the talc for her; the minimum order is one pound. Petrie can also get talc from J.T. Baker, 995 Zephyr Ave., Hayward, Calif. 94544, (415) 471-6225; this information came from Caroline Bales of Alhambra and E. Hewitt of Encinitas.

And R. Ziskin of Real Labs of Woodland Hills writes that some of their unperfumed talc will soon be available at the following Southland places: Maggie Ann Lingerie, 1926 S. Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach; Miss Stevens Lingerie, 321 S. Robertson Blvd., Beverly Hills; Adams Specialty Shop, 18545 Roscoe Blvd., Northridge; La Palma Surgical, 1120 W. La Palma Ave., Anaheim, and many others.
