In another action Monday, the council awarded a $47,085 contract to Damon Construction Co. to build 129 wheelchair ramps.
The council may ask that an additional 111 ramps be built if funds are available. The total appropriation for the project, paid for by Community Development Block Grant and Senate Bicycle Path monies, is $96,893. The Ad Hoc Committee on the Disabled has identified more than 400 locations where wheelchair ramps are needed.
