A 20-year-old transient who arrived in San Diego about two weeks ago after escaping from a work furlough camp in Washington State was arrested by San Diego police minutes after he allegedly robbed a savings and loan in the 2900 block of Clairemont Drive at noon on Friday. Police Department spokesman Bill Robinson said Thomas Andrew Holzbog was arrested by police acting on the word of two witnesses who tailed the man into a nearby apartment complex after the holdup. One of the witnesses was the husband of a teller at the Glendale Federal branch. When arrested, Holzbog had in his possession a .22-caliber handgun and more than $3,000 in cash, Robinson said.
