IBM Grant to Fund Computer Network for UCLA Students

A $13-million grant from IBM will provide an extensive computer network for students in the UCLA School of Engineering and Applied Science. The equipment will include 175 computer work stations to be divided among classrooms, laboratories and research centers.

Also, Hughes Aircraft Co. has given the school a $300,000 endowment for a chair in manufacturing engineering. UCLA engineering graduates at Hughes contributed an additional $30,000, which was matched by the company, for a total endowment of $360,000.
