Computerized System Cuts Purchasing Waste

Use of a computerized materials catalogue system is expected to save an engineering and construction company thousands of dollars a month through reduced duplicate purchases.

McDermott International is the first outside company to use the system developed by Phillips Petroleum to identify items. Phillips estimates that it saves $200,000 a month with its own system by making fewer purchases.
