The Theme Trophy of the 1985 Pasadena Tournament of Roses will be formally presented to Santa Ana tonight at 7:30 in the City Council chambers for the city’s float in the New Year’s Day parade.

Harrison Cronk, treasurer of the Tournament of Roses, will present the award, which is made annually to the float that best portrays the parade theme in design and flowers. This year’s theme was “The Spirit of America.”

Santa Ana’s float, “Architects of Freedom,” was chosen over 58 other entries.

Also scheduled to receive presentations from the city are members of the Rose Parade Committee and the seven sets of twins who rode on the float. Each set of twins depicted historical figures, including George Washington, Betsy Ross and Martin Luther King Jr.
