San Clemente Chamber Names New Executive Manager

The San Clemente Chamber of Commerce has named Mimi Collier executive manager. Collier replaces Alex Goodman, who retired. Collier has been keeping the chamber’s books since 1978 and served as office manager under Goodman for two years. Collier was a unanimous choice of the chamber’s board.

Randall E. Presley is the recipient of the “Spirit of Life” award, to be presented by the Orange County Construction Industries Alliance for the City of Hope April 9 at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel. Presley is chairman and chief executive officer of Presley Cos., a home building company in Irvine. He is being given the award for his community service and distinguished achievement.

Mission Viejo resident George Henderson was appointed a member of the state Narcotic Addict Evaluation Authority. Henderson currently serves as a staff assistant in Gov. George Deukmejian’s Los Angeles office. He previously provided personal security for the attorney general and served 21 years with the Los Angeles Police Department. His salary will be $21,764. The authority deals with state prison inmates in drug rehabilitation programs.

Jo Caines, a local TV talk show co-host; Marne Glass, a criminal defense attorney, and Gail King-Burney, president of the Santa Ana Educators Assn., will be honored at a champagne reception saluting Orange County Minority Women Leadership by Marabou Associates March 3 at the Santa Ana Soroptimist House.

Dr. William E. Berger was elected vice president of the American College of Allergists, a professional organization representing more than 3,000 allergy specialists. Berger is a practicing allergist in Mission Viejo and president of the Orange County chapter of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

The Orange County Community Development Council Inc. named John Flores Jr. to the Project Self-Sufficiency Task Force for Garden Grove. Flores is executive director of CDC. The project, operated under a Housing and Urban Development program, is designed to help low-income, single parents obtain job training and employment.
