La Mesa

An 85-year-old man was killed and two women were injured Friday afternoon when an eastbound car driven by Roberta Sullivan, 37, of San Diego went out of control, crossed the center divider on Fletcher Parkway and struck an oncoming car driven by 71-year-old Juanita Blackwell of San Diego, La Mesa police said. Wilbur Blackwell, a passenger in the westbound car, was pronounced dead at the scene by Life Flight paramedics. Mrs. Blackwell was listed in satisfactory condition at Grossmont Hospital and Sullivan was listed in fair condition at Sharp Memorial Hospital, where she was airlifted by Life Flight helicopter.
