British, W. German Trade Deficits Narrow

The British and West German trade deficits both narrowed in January from the previous month, both governments said Tuesday in separate reports.

In Britain, the seasonally adjusted visible trade deficit narrowed in January to 76 million pounds, or $79 million, from deficits of 344 million pounds in December and 239 million pounds in January, 1984.

West Germany’s trade surplus in January narrowed to 2.6 billion marks, or $751 million.
