Claremont

Scripps College has been awarded a $150,000 challenge grant by the Andrew W. Mellon and William and Flora Hewlett foundations. Terms of the grant stipulate that the award, combined with matching funds raised by Scripps on a 3-1 basis, be designated as a permanently restricted endowment to be used for faculty and curriculum development and institutional self-renewal. The college has three years to raise the funds.
