About 800 homes near Oxnard Street and Tampa Avenue in Reseda were without power for an hour and a half Thursday when a wooden support beam on a power pole broke and damaged electrical equipment, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said.
The outage was reported at 12:20 p.m. Electricity was restored to most of the homes by about 2 p.m.
The support beam, at the top of the pole, fell several feet and landed on top of the equipment. No other damage was reported, the spokeswoman said. She said she did not know why the beam broke.
