Manson Family Member to Be Freed Over Her Protests

Manson Family member Sandra Good will be released from prison this month despite her statements that “I have too much anger inside of me” to return to society, a federal prison spokesman said today.

David Helman, executive assistant to the warden at the Alderson, W.Va., federal prison, confirmed in an interview with Sacramento radio station KRAK that Good is scheduled for release from prison March 29, and that it is prison policy to return a released inmate to the region where he or she was sentenced.

Good, one of Charles Manson’s original disciples, was convicted in Sacramento of sending death threats through the mails to business executives following the arrest of her roommate, Lynette (Squeaky) Fromme, for the attempted assassination of President Gerald Ford.

Neither Good nor Fromme was charged in the 1969 Manson Family murders of actress Sharon Tate and six others in Los Angeles. But they were both sentenced to federal prison seven years later on charges stemming from Fromme’s assassination attempt against Ford.

In a telephone interview today in the Sacramento Bee, Good, now 41, said “really stupid” federal authorities plan to release her from prison March 29, even though she doesn’t want to be free.

“They’re forcing me out against my will,” she said. “I still feel the way I did the day I walked into prison. I don’t want out until Manson and the family get a fair trial. Charlie is inside, and that’s where my soul, that’s where my love lies. Inside.”
