Eight women and four men were sworn in Friday to serve as the jury in the federal court trial of Orange County businessman W. Patrick Moriarty on charges of bribing four City of Commerce officials by giving them secret shares in a poker casino in return for legalizing gambling in that city.

The jurors were impaneled at the end of the third day of jury selection in the Los Angeles courtroom of U.S. District Judge William Rea.

The prosecution is scheduled to begin presenting its case next Tuesday against Moriarty, 53, of La Mirada, and co-defendant Frank J. Sansone, 47, a Las Vegas gambling figure and former manager of the Commerce Club.
