Ford Aerospace & Communications Corp. in Newport Beach has received a $26.4-million ammunition order from the U.S. Army.
The latest order continues Ford’s longstanding contract to provide 25 millimeter ammunition for the Army Armament Munitions and Chemical Command in Rock Island, Ill.
According to a Ford spokesman, the company has sold more than 5 million rounds of the ammunition since the contract began.
Because the latest order continues existing work, it will not result in any new hiring at the company’s remote, 880-acre site in San Juan Capistrano where the ammunition is assembled.
