Share

Officials from eight Southern California counties agreed on a plan to better manage hazardous wastes and dump sites in the area, said a spokesman for the Southern California Assn. of Governments. Together the counties and representatives from the city councils of San Diego and Los Angeles formed the Hazardous Waste Management Authority to find ways of reducing the number of dump sites and to select future dumping grounds for hazardous wastes. The counties participating in the program are Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Imperial. Formal approval for the agreement must still be granted by each county board of supervisors and city council, said a SCAG spokesman.
