Women’s Basketball : UCLA Easily Handles Stanford

Anne Dean, Jaime Brown and Jackie Joyner each scored 14 points Saturday night to lead UCLA to a 75-61 victory over the Cardinal at Stanford.
The win improved the Bruins’ West Coast Athletic Assn. record to 9-4 (18-9 overall). Stanford, which was led by Virginia Sourlis’ 18 points, fell to 2-10 in WCAA play, 9-17 overall.
Cal State Long Beach 85, Cal 64--Cindy Brown scored 22 points and Kirsten Cummings added 18 and Jackie White 16 as the fourth-ranked 49ers won the nonconference game at Berkeley.
Long Beach, which plays host to USC Tuesday night in a game that already is sold out, is 24-2 overall and 10-1 in the WCAA. Cal, which was led by Heli Toikka’s 16 points, fell to 15-12.
USC 76, Arizona State 57--The Trojans built a 41-37 first-half lead and coasted to the win at Tempe. USC got 20 points from Holly Ford and 18 points and 10 rebounds from Cheryl Miller. Arizona State was led by a game-high 24 points from Beckie Smatana.
