LPGA Tour Comes to Mesa Verde
Defending champion Nancy Lopez, Patty Sheehan and 142 other golfers begin preparations for this week’s $330,000 Uniden LPGA Invitational tournament at the Mesa Verde Country Club in Costa Mesa as practice round play opens today.
The tournament, in its second year, features the second-largest purse on the LPGA tour.
The main draw of 144 players begins first-round competition Thursday, with the four-day tournament scheduled to finish Sunday. Players will participate in practice round play today and Tuesay (both sessions starting at 9 a.m.), with a Pro-Am tournament set for Wednesday.
Sunday’s final round will be televised live nationally by ESPN and locally by KTLA Channel 5.
