Corona police arrested three Riverside residents Monday on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with an alleged plot to kill the estranged husband of one of the suspects.

Mickey Washburn, 35, Jeannette Love, 20, and Roger White, 20, were being held in Riverside County Jail on $250,000 bail, according to Police Sgt. Sam Spiegel.

The three suspects are accused of trying to kill Washburn’s husband by blowing up his car on Feb. 12. A wire running from the ignition coil to the gas tank of the car was removed by someone who knew of the alleged intent to murder, Lt. Fred Biggs, commander of detectives, said.

“It was a real, live, honest-to-goodness attempt to kill the guy,” Biggs said, but he declined to give further details.

The charges against the three suspects carry the same penalties as would charges for a “successful” murder, Biggs said, including possible death penalty circumstances because an explosive device was used in the murder attempt.
