Councilman John Ferraro, who is challenging Mayor Tom Bradley in the April 9 Los Angeles city primary election, sued the Southern California Rapid Transit District for refusing to display all of his paid advertisements on all of its 1,800 buses. Ferraro claimed the RTD permitted bus cards reading “John Ferraro is fighting to keep your bus fare at 50 cents,” but rejected the other half of the ad, which stated: “Tom Bradley is raising your bus fare to 85 cents.” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John L. Cole refused to immediately order the bus company to display the statement about Bradley, but scheduled a hearing on the suit for March 22. No RTD officials could be reached for comment.
