CBS said it intends to subpoena Ted Turner.
The network said it wants the chairman of Turner Broadcasting, which owns CNN and other cable-television properties, to make a deposition in its lawsuit against Fairness in Media, a conservative advocacy group that is threatening to purchase the network over an alleged liberal bias in CBS’ news coverage. CBS wants to know the nature and extent of Turner’s contacts with the group and other defendants in the suit. Turner acknowledged last Friday that his firm made inquiries with the FCC about procedures required in a possible takeover but without confirming any interest in CBS. Turner was unavailable for comment.
