Most ran on foot. But others moved with walkers or rolled on bikes, roller skates or wheelchairs.

In all, more than 150 children, teen-agers and adults spent 45 minutes Wednesday circling a track at the Speech and Language Development Center in Buena Park to raise money for the special-education school.

The Jog/Walk/Wheel-a-thon drew students, parents and staff members of the private nonprofit center, which teaches youths who have neurologically related speech, language and learning difficulties.

The $12,000 raised from the event will help buy library materials and educational software for the computers the students use weekly.

According to Dawn O’Connor, one of the administrators at the center, students need to keep abreast of equipment used in public schools to transfer to neighborhood schools when they are ready.
