ORANGE COUNTY The Irvine Co. announced it has sold a 2.9-acre parcel within the Irvine Industrial Complex East to Grant Building Co., a Newport Beach developer, for $1.3 million. The commercially-zoned parcel will be the site of a three-story, 66,000-square-foot office building.

California Land Title Co. of Santa Ana has been acquired by Lawyers Title, a Santa Ana subsidiary of Richmond, Va.-based Lawyers Title Insurance Corp. The two Santa Ana firms have consolidated their operations under the name of Continental Land Title Co. The newly formed company will move to new Santa Ana offices.

California Land formerly was owned by Continental Financial Services Co.

The new company will deal in title transactions with divisions handling resale transactions, subdivision developments, commercial developments, escrows and foreclosures.

CPE Engineers Inc., an Irvine-based engineering and construction firm, has been awarded a $2 million building contract by Maralie Convalescent Hospital in Santa Rosa. The project will involve construction of additional wings on the existing structure and various alterations.

Computer Automation Inc.’s computer products division in Irvine has received two orders totaling $2 million for computer systems used in the printing and publishing industry. Monotype, based in London, will use the system in its laser-based phototypesetting operation. Compugraphics in Oceanside will use the computers in its typesetting and page layout systems.

Mohawk Data Sciences Corp. of New Jersey has sold its Dek Identification Systems division, which employs about 10 workers in an Anaheim research laboratory, to National Business Systems, Inc. of Toronto for $13 million. The Dek division supplies equipment and service used to produce drivers licenses and identification cards in 25 states, including California.
