I am working on my Eagle Scout project, which is a memorial for the veterans entombed in the mausoleum at Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton. This memorial will have a list of the veterans on it, but this is where I need help from readers.
I am compiling a list of veterans by going through the mausoleum and reading each plaque to see whether there is any indication of service in the U.S. Armed Forces. The American Veterans Memorial Assn. and I do not want anyone left off the list.
If you know of a veteran entombed in the mausoleum, please call and state the veteran's name. You may call Loma Vista Memorial Park at 525-1575 or Ryan Chandler at 879-7455.
Fullerton Putting 'Ziggurat' to a Good Use
Hooray for Jack Seymour of Laguna Beach for his letter on using the "Ziggurat" to house the homeless (March 3).
I drive by the Ziggurat building almost daily, and each time I think, 'What a waste!'
Although I fear crime and skid-row conditions in my neighborhood, my compassion for our homeless, fellow human beings outweighs even the largest of my fears.
How do we get this project under way? Let's make a difference!
The Ziggurat facility constructed by Rockwell International in Laguna Niguel would best serve us as a university specializing in engineering studies.
Many people have stated that Austin, Tex. is now our top center for studies in artificial intelligence, expert systems and the fifth-generation computer. This is an unsatisfactory situation because these research projects, essential to our national survival, should not be concentrated in a single location.
Last year we had the sad spectacle of Proposition A, formulated to collect sales tax money for construction of additional highways on the June ballot. Instead we should make education our highest priority.
Thus, our next Proposition A should be used to fund public school honors courses and research activities at Cal State Ziggurat, Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine. When we select the motto for Orange County education that "Best Is the Enemy of Good Enough," we will be the model for our nation.
