The Mississippi Legislature passed a three-year, $4,400 pay raise for teachers but delayed sending the measure to the governor because of opposition by some lawmakers to anti-strike provisions. The legislators, meeting in a rare weekend session, sought a compromise before Monday, the day the Mississippi Assn. of Educators designated for a statewide strike.
