Share

Chevron USA has been ordered to widen its search for underground hydrocarbons in a residential neighborhood bordering its El Segundo oil refinery to determine if there is a potential hazard. State Department of Health Services officials issued the directive after vapors were detected several times in locations near the refinery. A spokesman for the health department said Chevron has until April 10 to begin the expanded search and to re-analyze vapors already found to determine if they contain chemical compounds that have been linked to cancer.
