A new grand jury is to hear testimony in New York against subway shooter Bernhard H. Goetz despite defense efforts to avert a second inquiry into the shooting of four young men in a subway last Dec. 22. A motion to stop the new panel will be reviewed Tuesday by state Supreme Court Justice Stephen Crane. “But the judge said, in effect, the grand jury could go ahead with its work on Monday, for one day at least,” said Joseph Kelner, one of Goetz’s lawyers.
