Wang may reorganize to fight an earnings slump.
John F. Cunningham, president of Wang Laboratories, said the office-equipment maker may reorganize in an effort to recover from its current earnings slump and may be forced to lay off some of its 31,000 workers. Cunningham said the earnings decline has been caused by an industrywide sales slowdown, the strength of the U.S. dollar, and the company’s own performance problems. Cunningham said problems at the Lowell, Mass.-based firm included customer service and delays in the shipping of new products.
