Six Beverly Hills High School seniors have been named finalists in the 1985 National Merit Scholarship Program.

In a letter to Rachel Barth, Yuk Ha, Joel Jacobs, Timothy Robinson, David Schwartz and Pamela Sterling, M. Elizabeth Jacka, executive vice president of the program, stated that the students were part of a “very select group, representing fewer than one-half of 1% of American high school seniors.”

More than 1 million students from more than 18,000 high schools entered the competition last fall. About 13,500 finalists are vying for 5,000 Merit Scholarships, which will be announced in April and May.
