Former Cambodian ruler Prince Norodom Sihanouk said Saturday that he welcomes a congressional proposal to give opponents of Cambodia’s pro-Vietnam government $5 million in economic aid but said that the resistance needs even more help.

“To challenge Vietnam in Cambodia we should get more,” Sihanouk told reporters before leaving for Peking. “I think the U.S.A. should involve itself more seriously in the fight for freedom. The U.S.A. should not continue to have trauma (over the Vietnam War). We are defending a just cause.”
