1 Dead in Bar Shooting; Security Guard Sought
Asecurity guard at a Sun Valley bar was being sought by police Saturday in connection with an early morning shooting that left one bar patron dead and another injured, authorities said.
Israel Ortega, 33, and another man were leaving the El Castillo Rojo Bar at 12:30 a.m. Saturday when one of the departing patrons and the security guard exchanged words, according to police officer Dennis Massa. Massa said the security guard drew his gun and fired one shot, which hit Ortega in the hand and hit the other victim in the upper body, killing him.
The security guard, who has not been identified, fled the scene, police said. Ortega was treated at Serra Memorial Health Center and released.
The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of his family.
