San Clemente : Hospital Fair Promotes Preventive Health Care

Share

San Clemente General Hospital will host a health fair Saturday featuring free exams and screenings, educational displays and discussions of new medical techniques.

The fair, which will run 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., aims to promote better health habits and prevent illness through free or low-cost screenings and educational literature. Participants will have a brief health history taken and may have blood pressure, height and weight checked. Other tests will screen for glaucoma and other vision problems, diabetes, curvature of the spine, arthritis, pulmonary function, allergies and skin cancer.

Participants can also have their heart rates tested. The hospital is offering free electrocardiograms as well, but appointments are necessary to avoid long waits. For $5, participants may receive a blood analysis.

Educational displays will include information on breast cancer and breast self-examination, reconstructive surgery, cardiac rehabilitation and demonstrations of the Heimlich maneuver and various exercise routines.

The hospital hopes to provide transportation for those who cannot drive from downtown San Clemente to the hospital. For more information on the fair or transportation, call 661-4448.
