A former U.S. Customs inspector and his uncle were both sentenced in San Diego to two-year terms in federal prison on bribery convictions for accepting money to allow cocaine into the United States through the Calexico port of entry. Michael Pesqueira, 27, and his uncle, Oscar Manuel Pesqueira, 33, each pleaded guilty to a single count of bribery. The Pesqueiras, according to evidence in their trial, were to receive $150,000 for allowing cocaine to be smuggled into the United States through the younger Pesqueira’s vehicle inspection lane.
