Share

Cypress police officers and dispatchers represented by the Public Safety Assn. have been granted a 5% salary increase, putting their salaries just above the median for the county, said Larry Hurst, the city’s finance director.

The City Council’s 3-0 vote Monday brings the department’s average yearly salary for an officer to $27,450 from $26,150, Hurst said. In addition, dispatchers will receive a 5% shift differential if they work the swing or graveyard shifts. Salary figures for dispatchers were not available.

The two-year agreement is retroactive to last Dec. 31. The officers and dispatchers are slated to receive another 5% increase on Dec. 30. Cypress has 41 officers and seven dispatchers. The police chief and captains, lieutenants and police clerks are not represented by the Public Safety Assn.
