Guy A. Williams, a seven-year member of the City Council and former mayor, was named citizen of the year by the Glendora Chamber of Commerce at its annual banquet. He was among 19 candidates nominated for the honor. Committee members cited Williams for his years of civic work that began long before his election to the council. In 1974 he played a key role in introducing zoning ordinances that protect hillsides, and he was later appointed to the Planning Commission. He also helped establish affordable housing for senior citizens and led Glendora’s annexation of Citrus College.
