Tulane University, embarrassed by a point-shaving scandal and newly discovered NCAA violations, said today it will accept the resignations of Coach Ned Fowler and two assistants and is dropping men’s basketball immediately.

President Eamon Kelly said the NCAA violations were discovered as part of its continuing investigation of the basketball program. Among the violations, he said, were some cash payments by Fowler to players on the basketball team.
