Installment Debt Sets Record

WASHINGTON — Americans took on a record $10.37 billion more in installment debt than they paid off in February, the government said today. The Federal Reserve Board said the February surge surpassed the old record increase of $9.09 billion set last May. It contrasted with a January increase of $7.22 billion.
