Placentia : Council to Discuss Bond Issue for Athletic Facility

Share

Placentia City Council members will discuss a $1.6-million bond issue for athletic facility improvements and select a new mayor and mayor pro tem Tuesday.

Council members also are scheduled to give final approval to four fee changes, including a new charge of $10 for any bounced check the city receives.

Of the $1.6 million geared for athletic improvements, about $1.4 million would be for a facility at Kramer Junior High School, deputy city clerk Betty Wallis said. The remainder would pay for improvements to three swimming pools, one owned by the city and two by the school district, she said. The bond issue will go before the voters in November.

During the meeting, council members also will replace Mayor Richard Buck and Mayor Pro Tem George Ziegler, who have completed their one-year terms.

Four fee changes are on the agenda in the form of a new ordinance that would:

Establish a $10 fee for bounced checks.

Establish a $300 “development agreement process” fee for developers.

Decrease the price of microfilm copies from $1 to 75 cents for every page after the first, which would remain at $1.

Increase the hotel and motel tax from 6% to 10%--a move with no opposition because there is no motel or hotel in the city.
