The State : 4 Contend for Lottery Job

Share

In the continuing search to find a permanent state lottery director, Gov. George Deukmejian said, he has interviewed three candidates and will soon meet with a fourth. Deukmejian said that generally he is more impressed with these candidates than with those he considered in the last attempt to find a director. That effort ended when the prime contender decided that the $73,780-a-year salary was not enough. The governor will consult with the state Lottery Commission before making his choice. The top applicant must also undergo a detailed background check.
