TV DOG TRAINER ON THE MEND

Dog trainer Barbara Woodhouse says she is trying to overcome the effects of a stroke last year and is eager to do a new television series.

Woodhouse, who became famous in Britain and the United States through her public television series “Training Dogs the Woodhouse Way,” has trained more than 17,000 dogs.

The stroke, in May, 1984, left the 74-year-old Woodhouse with partial paralyis on one side of her body. In an interview in Woman magazine, she said can now walk but her arm and wrist are weak and prolonged activity tires her.

Asked if she wanted to do a new series, she said: “I’m just waiting to be asked.”

While recovering from the stroke, she has established a telephone line on which anxious dog owners can call her for advice. She also has a trip to Canada planned for later this year.

“I’ve been a public figure for years, and I don’t intend just to disappear,” she said.
