Republican Richard D. McIntyre held a one-vote lead over incumbent Frank McCloskey as a federally mandated recount of Indiana’s 8th District congressional election moved into the final county. The latest recount of all 234,000 ballots cast last November in the 15-county district began three weeks ago. McIntyre, who challenged McCloskey in November’s election, was first certified as the winner by 34 votes, and later improved his margin to 418 votes in a recount conducted under state election laws. It could be several days before the final results are known.
