UC Irvine Loses to Cal in Tennis

UC Irvine lost four singles matches in three sets, after leading in each, en route to a 7-2 loss to California in a nonconference men’s tennis match Tuesday in Berkeley.

Brad Ackerman scored Irvine’s only singles win with a 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 decision over Donnie Leone. UCI, ranked 18th in the nation, falls to 25-9. Cal, ranked 13th, is 20-6. Irvine meets top-ranked Stanford today.

In women’s tennis action:

UC Irvine 6, Fullerton 3--The Anteaters won five of six singles matches in the nonconference victory at Irvine. UCI (16-14) is at the University of San Diego today.
