La Habra : New Mayor Wants New Projects, New Revenue

Concerned with the city’s dwindling share of federal revenue, William D. Mahoney, newly elected mayor of La Habra, said Wednesday that he wants to see more new projects, such as redevelopment programs, pump new money into the city.
Mahoney, a member of the City Council since 1982 and mayor pro tem this past year, was elected mayor by his fellow council members Tuesday night. Mahoney, a lawyer, will serve a one-year term as mayor. The new mayor pro tem is Kent A. Roberts, a member of the council since 1981.
In other business Tuesday, the council turned down a Planning Commission request for an emergency temporary ordinance restricting new satellite dishes.
Although the emergency ordinance received a 3-2 vote in favor, it needed a four-fifths majority to pass as an emergency ordinance.
